Now we are looking for a Technical Consultant who wants to work at the intersection of engineering, AI, software, and client impact.

Someone who understands real engineering problems, enjoys going deep technically, builds strong relationships with clients, and helps leading engineering organizations apply AI and automation where it actually matters: inside their day-to-day engineering workflows.

The role

You have built up a few years of engineering experience, and you are ready for something bigger than executing one project after another.

You want to work at the frontier of engineering technology. You want to understand complex workflows, challenge how engineering work is done today, and help engineers turn their knowledge into scalable, AI-powered applications that create measurable impact.

As a Technical Consultant at VIKTOR, you are the bridge between engineering practice and the technology that is transforming it.

You work closely with engineers at leading contractors, engineering firms, and asset owners such as BAM, Heijmans, Arcadis, and others. You dive into their workflows, uncover the real bottlenecks, and help them build applications on the VIKTOR platform that automate calculations, connect tools, use AI safely, improve decision-making, and scale expertise across teams.

The impact is tangible: saving thousands of engineering hours, reducing CO₂ and material use, lowering project costs, improving quality, and making complex projects more predictable. Think of applications used on major infrastructure, offshore wind, energy, buildings, and industrial projects, including projects such as the world’s longest immersed tunnel and offshore wind foundations.

But your role goes beyond delivery.

Because you work directly with clients, you see what is really happening in the engineering market. You understand where engineers struggle, where software falls short, where AI can create value, and where VIKTOR needs to go next. You bring those insights back into the company and help shape the product, platform, and strategy used by thousands of engineers worldwide.

What you’ll do

30% — Implementation Engineering

You build AI-powered engineering applications for and together with clients.

Using your engineering background and Python skills, you help translate domain expertise, calculations, models, documents, simulations, and workflows into scalable VIKTOR applications. You do not just ask what needs to be built; you understand why it matters, how it fits into the engineering process, and how AI or automation can create real project impact.

You co-develop with client teams, write Python, connect engineering tools, structure workflows, integrate AI capabilities, and train engineers so they can build and improve applications themselves.

30% — Technical Consultancy

You act as a trusted technical advisor to clients.

You help clients solve complex, non-standard engineering workflow challenges. You advise them on how to use VIKTOR to automate processes, apply AI safely, scale internal knowledge, increase adoption, and make applications part of daily engineering work.

You also support the sales team in technical conversations with potential customers by showing what is possible, challenging assumptions, and translating engineering problems into AI and platform opportunities.

15% — Spotting Opportunities

You build long-term relationships with clients and understand where VIKTOR can create more value inside their organization.

Because you are close to the actual engineering work, you can identify new use cases, new teams, and new strategic opportunities. You spot where AI, automation, and connected workflows can remove bottlenecks and unlock value. You actively contribute to expanding client accounts and landing new consultancy projects.

15% — Product Feedback

Your field experience gives you a unique perspective.

You see the friction, needs, ambitions, and limitations that clients experience in practice. You understand which AI use cases are valuable, which ones are not yet ready, and what engineers need to trust and adopt new technology.

You translate those insights into clear product feedback and work with the VIKTOR team to improve the platform.

You help make sure we are not just building AI features, but building the platform engineers actually need to use AI safely and effectively.

10% — Project Management & Internal Development

You keep your projects running smoothly in terms of planning, scope, budget, communication, and quality.

You also invest in your own development, improve internal ways of working, and contribute to the knowledge, culture, and technical capability of the consultancy team.

Your profile

• You have 2–5 years of engineering experience — you understand the world our clients operate in and earn credibility quickly

• You are genuinely curious — you dig into problems until you understand the real root cause, not just the surface symptom

• You are energised by working with people — not despite being an engineer, but because of it

• You build relationships that clients genuinely value; they see you as a long-term partner who understands their work

• You connect the dots — between client workflows, AI opportunities, and what VIKTOR should build next

• You are excited by the role AI and automation will play in the future of engineering

• You have solid Python skills and are motivated to keep growing technically

• You communicate with clarity — whether you are in a deep technical conversation or a strategic discussion with a digital leader

• You can translate field experience into product insight — concrete, useful, and well-argued

• You live in the Netherlands and enjoy working from our Rotterdam office and at client locations

• You speak fluent English; Dutch is strongly preferred

This is not a traditional engineering role, and it is not a traditional consultancy role either.

You will not spend your career producing reports or repeating the same type of project. You will be at the frontier: helping leading engineering organizations make the shift from manual processes and isolated tools to scalable, AI-powered engineering workflows.

You will work with Python, automation, AI, simulation, software integrations, and real domain knowledge — on projects like the world's longest immersed tunnel, offshore wind foundations, and major infrastructure across energy, buildings, and construction.

And crucially: what you learn in the field will not stay in the field. Your insights will help shape a platform used by tens of thousands of engineers worldwide.
